Alyssa Humphrey Humphrey, 1 April 21, 2015 2nd On September 1, 1939 Germany invaded Poland. Britain and France declared war on Hitler s Nazi Germany in retaliation. Humiliated and dissatisfied with their loss in World War I Germany wanted a powerful leader who could bring them to a strong victory. Invading the whole world meant there would be other countries stronger then they were. By this time, the Japanese had built a strong naval offense system known as the Combined Fleet commanded by Iroroku Yamamoto. The Japanese Combined Fleet sent their planes to attack the United States at Pearl Harbor. This attack greatly weakened and crippled the defenses of the United States. The Japanese Combined Fleet s attack on Harbor all but destroyed the United States Pacific fleet. The master mind behind the attack on the United States at Pear Harbor was Iroroku Yamamoto. Yamamoto began questioning himself if such an attack plan could be possible If there s a war, it won t be the kind where battleships sail forth in a lesser fashion as in the post, and the proper force of the combined fleet would be, I think to sit tight in the inland sea keeping an eye on the situation as a whole.
